Remember this

Every day when you wake up and feel that sense of not knowing what is going to happen today, we often feel afraid to move on. This fear of the unseen will drive us to make some rash decisions in our every day life. We will have to remind us that no matter what some things never change.. Those few things that do not change should be the foundation of our lives. If we build our lives on the foundation of truth we will not be shaken by the storms of life. Let's go through those facts that is true for every day of our lives.

1. I may not know what s going to happen this day, But My father in heaven who sees the beginning and the end together knows and he will make my crooked ways straight for me. All I need to do is to trust in Him and move on.

2. God loves me with an everlasting love which was formed before I was born. Nothing I do can make Him love me less or more.

3. God expects me to live this day in constant communion with Him. That means I need to be conscience of His presence even though I cannot see Him. This consciousness is the only way I can lead a Holy Life.

4. Like every day, the devil has made plans to torture me, to tempt me and to destroy me.... BUT If I hold my father's hands I will always be safe and sound.

Sunday Sermon

Its a little late but I thought it would be a good idea to spend some time dwelling upon today's sermon I heard from our church pastor. The core of the message was that sometimes what works for others in the past might not work for us now or in the future. For example, consider what Abraham did when he took his son Issac to sacrifice Him. Abraham got up early in the morning and took the firewood and fire from his own home for the sacrifice. But, when the sons of Aaron did the same thing in Leviticus 10 : 1, it brought about their own death.

Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, contrary to his command.

In the same way we can see that sometimes what was right in the past in our own lives might not always be the best thing to do. For example, Moses was commanded to hit a rock to bring forth water and He did so, but the second time He was only told to command to the rock. Moses did not give much attention and He just did the same thing he had done the last time he encountered such a situation. God looked at this as disobedience and punished Moses. This was one of the reasons why Moses never entered Canaan - The promised land.

In our lives, we might have certain misconceptions about how God works which lead to our disobedience against God rather than obedience. This is a very important aspect of Christian life and we should never give more importance to our past experiences than the actual command of God.

The Grand Scheme of Things

Over the past few weeks I was engulfed over the way history has played itself out.First of all, did it play itself out or did God in all His wisdom guide every bit of History to its minute detail. Did He allow all these wars, famine and poverty to go on for some bigger objective or is it all Man's fault. Its a little hard to address these questions head on. As I kept pondering on these questions in my mind, I found it necessary at some point to look back at the farthest pages of History. Though the world does not believe in it the Bible is the most earliest and most provocative historical books of all time. The Bible tells us the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about how this world came to be. So let's take a look at what happened so far in the grand scheme of things

In the beginning, God created man and everything we see in nature today. He blessed man to go out and populate the world, inhabit and rule it. When he created man He also gave him something extra extra special - Free will. This is the power to write one's own destiny. This gift was and is still utterly misused by mankind. This free will is what put man in the chains of sin and disobedience. To put it simple, God wrote the rules or the law which is above everything else and God gave man a choice to either follow the law or to break it and face the consequences. Man chose the latter and history took a drastic turn on that day. Things got so worse that even God thought he made a grand mistake when he made man. Does God make mistakes.... Hmmm. He finally decided that man should be wiped off the globe through a flood that would rewrite history. He chose one man or let me say found one man and his family who would be the new father of all - Noah. This man Noah tried to persuade many people to get into his boat but was mostly unsuccessful. The people remained outside, but the animals who don't have a free will got into the boat. Sometimes, I think its better to be a flea inside that Boat of salvation than to be a king who stayed out of the boat of salvation.

Years passed... Noah was long gone. It was time for God to choose a different man for a very different purpose. God decided that it was time to make His own nation among the wicked nations of this world. He decided the exact geographical location of this new nation ( I'm talking of Israel and if you don't know, Israel lies exactly in the middle of the world map). So he chose this new man Abram, changed him to Abraham and then sent him onto the center of the world. Because this man dared to obey even in the most dire circumstances, God made Him go from childless to father of nations...literally. When Abraham was gone there was an Issac, when Issac was gone there was Jacob... thus started this grand lineage that would bless the whole world. Jacob became Israel when he decided to struggle with God just to be blessed more than anyone in this world. Israel is translated to "One who struggled with God". That name still holds true, In all history there has never been a nation who had to go through this much suffering. But, Israel was and will always be the apple of God's eye. Whoever touches Israel touches God. Woe to you all you nations who despise Israel. Through Jacob's sons God had established a nation that will last forever.

So here was this nation blessed by God even though they were not even remotely worthy of it and here was the rest of the world who was in a great big mess. The world had become fatherless so as to speak. They did not know who created them and was separated from God through sin. Then came the ultimate point in the grand scheme of things. God decided to send His Son to die on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of all the world, not only for Israel. Yes, Jesus died even for those who were not even born yet. Jesus came, Jesus loved, Jesus conquered through His love far more than any King ever before. He died and then He rose again and when he did He tore the veil of separation between God and man. History was torn into two. This was the new world, everything was made new. Jesus still lives, His word will never pass away and He is the only reason a person like me gets to have communion to God. I am the great grandson of a drunkard. All my ancestors were idol worshipers, but God loved me with such an everlasting, daring, audacious, unexplainable, unfathomable love that I am now His as much as He is Mine. I am sold out to this great God. Are You??? Where do you come in the scheme of God?. He wants you to be His friend and partner. Will You give your life to Him?

God's Love

The topic of God's love is a little hard to explain and impossible to measure. If we could measure God's Love to us like we measure any physical quantity , we could measure God Himself. Why?. Because God is Love. Sometimes, His love towards us is also hard to understand, sometimes we doubt if He ever loves us when Life goes through its dark times. This was the every day experience of God's people Israel. Now, as we are all joined to the New Israel of the New Testament we are all experiencing what that special Nation went through for centuries. By the way, Israel means "One who struggled with God". As we are the new Israel, we will also have to struggle with God like Jacob (the original Israel) did.. Sometimes circumstances in Life makes us think twice if God is still in control. But, the simple fact is that He always His. He lets some bad things happen to us once in a while either to make us stronger in faith or to get our attention,.. If you are away from God you can be almost sure of the fact that God will discipline you to bring you back to Him. Look at these words from Hosea which prove my point. Read it over and over agian and be sure of the fact that God loves you.

She has not acknowledged that I was the one
who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil,
who lavished on her the silver and gold—
which they used for Baal.

9 "Therefore I will take away my grain when it ripens,
and my new wine when it is ready.
I will take back my wool and my linen,
intended to cover her nakedness.

10 So now I will expose her lewdness
before the eyes of her lovers;
no one will take her out of my hands.

11 I will stop all her celebrations:
her yearly festivals, her New Moons,
her Sabbath days—all her appointed feasts.

12 I will ruin her vines and her fig trees,
which she said were her pay from her lovers;
I will make them a thicket,
and wild animals will devour them.

13 I will punish her for the days
she burned incense to the Baals;
she decked herself with rings and jewelry,
and went after her lovers,
but me she forgot,"
declares the LORD.

14 "Therefore I am now going to allure her;
I will lead her into the desert
and speak tenderly to her.

15 There I will give her back her vineyards,
and will make the Valley of Achor a]">[a] a door of hope.
There she will sing b]">[b] as in the days of her youth,
as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

16 "In that day," declares the LORD,
"you will call me 'my husband';
you will no longer call me 'my master. c]">[c]

Look at the transition between the verses 13 and 14... From verses 8 to 13 God is speaking about what He will do to bring Him back and from verse 14 onwards He is speaking about the love that was lost being found again.

Shut out the world and Bring in God

I have been very much led by the spirit these days to shut out the world from my life and welome God to the innermost places of my life. My eyes were opened to the fact that I was spending most of my time either doing my own things or just wasting time. I spend little or no time in the presence of God. As I was praying today, the Lord asked me to experiment something I have never done before. he told me to shut the world out and give Him some room to operate. I have taken a decision to stop watching TV or sit in front of the computer unless I am doing something useful. I am going to take this day by day and see what God will do in my life..Every day I want to post something to my blog to keep record of how things are changing, because I believe that a whole lot is about to change.

Random Things

Its been ages since I posted something on this blog and honestly I even thought of deleting this blog, but God put it in my heart that I should not give up any good thing that I started with very good intentions. I have decided that even if I have to post only two times a month I am not going to delete this blog.. I have been very busy with College and work for these past few days, in addition to that I lost my grandmother on February 20th. It is a constant pain in my mind and the pain of separation is very hard to get over.Next week onwards, I have planned to start writing devotionals like usual and normal service will be resumed.

Coning Back

Well I am coming back to my ordinary life after a very tiresome and sorrowful week.. My grandma's funeral was day before yesterday and all the relatives who came for the funeral are now back home. It was a great opportunity to meet so many relatives from all parts of the USA... I am sure my grandma would be happy to see that all her relatives, her friends and even her neighbors were extending helping hands to console us. But now, as everyone is home, we as a family have to bear the grief alone. We are all depending on God for our peace and happiness, the hope that we can see her on the other shore drives us on. I know I would not want to miss the opportunity to meet her again. Besides that, school seems to be moving on comfortably and work is also good.. But, I need to catch up on reading the bible.. I had planned to read the whole bible in one year but I find myself well behind schedule. So, that's what's on my to do list today.

See you in heaven Mama

I am writing this with an extremely heavy heart, but at the same moment I am filled with peace that passes all understanding. My Grandmother lost her battle with cancer today, the disease hit her so hard that she was only a shadow of her former being. She was a grandma filled with love and she loved everyone. There is no one in this world who was her enemy... everyone she met was her friend. When she came to the US, she was eager to learn more English so that she could talk with Americans...and her American Indian grandchildren. I don't know what to write... I am completely blank upstairs. Today in the evening 5:20 PM central, she breathed her last. She is in heaven.. where there is no more pain and suffering. Its hard to accept that she will not be there for us here, but we have to come to terms with that sooner or later. As she was on her death bed, she was surrounded with all the people she cherished most. Her three children (out of which my dad is the eldest), 5 of her 7 grandchildren, her 2 daughter in laws and her beloved bothers and sisters in Christ. We expressed our gratitude to our dear mother and she accepted it yesterday. She knew she would go...At 5:19 the nurses came to change her clothes, we all stepped out of the hospital room and in that instant she died. I believe that God did not want us to see her breath her last, I know that she would not want her beloved husband of 51 years cry at that moment. She used to tell her husband that she was ready to go, if grandpa would agree not to cry. God granted her wish, and she went to be with the Lord without even us seeing her die. right now, I believe she is resting in Paradise and seeing all her loved ones that are there. When we gave her a farewell here on earth, I believe they received her with the pomposity of heaven.

Truly this has been one of the saddest days of my life, but the peace of Christ Jesus is so amazing only people with intense sorrow can understand what it means to be comforted by HIM. He will never despise a broken heart and a contrite spirit. Birthdays were always so special to her, she would celebrate the birthdays of her loved ones even when she went through great pain in the body. She lived long enough that mine was the last birthday she celebrated.I have to go now... please pray for us and especially for grandpa.

Jesus is coming at midnight..... Its 11:59

When I am a little stressed out with things of this world I always like to fantasize about my eternal Home on the other side of the river. I love thinking about meeting all those people I miss so badly, and over everything I look forward to see the face of my Lord Jesus. To see the nail pierced hands that were stretched out for me, to see the angels who sing God's praises. I want to see the streets of Gold. Can you imagine the excitement we will have when we tread the streets of Gold with our Savior... I can't. I don't want to imagine anymore, I wanna go. Here is a song that always gives me the hope to move on in this life. Brothers and sisters life is just a temporary assignment, though we will all die one day we will live again in a much better place. Let that hope drive you on in this life. Because whatever happens there is nothing the world can do to take that hope away from us.

Been Busy lately

I don't remember being this busy in years... College and the part time job I have at the local grocery store is just eating up all of my time but I am fulfilled and moving on in life. Because of this tight schedule I have not been able to post anything lately. Even as I type this, I am just back from work and find myself extremely tired and sleepy. I am writing this post so that I don't have to feel bad about not posting anything. Every day at work I see a lot of interesting people ranging from good old grandmas to hip youngsters. Today, however I saw a very touching scene as a couple was unable to pay for all the stuff they bought. The guy was mightily embarrassed when he found out that he was well short of the total. He then had to return some items and go out with only the bare necessities... this sight made me feel really bad inside. It just hit me that lots and lots of people are struggling out there to make both ends meet. All of us who are pretty well off should stop complaining about all the little things and be thankful to God.. If you are also feeling the effects of our pathetic economy.. there is only one thing to do. Take it one day at a time and move on. You will see that God is more than enough to take care of you and your family. The one thing I have learned in my life is that God can give me anything, anywhere and at anytime. All we need to do is have faith in Him. He who takes care of the birds of the sky knows how to take care of you too. God does not need a stimulus package to save you... Our Father owns the whole world. This is the time for us to stop trusting in man (Government) and start trusting in God again.

Ready to Tangle

Its official, Godtube has changed its name to Tangle.. The change comes after weeks of waiting on the part of all Godtube members. Tangle refers to the tangled branches of a vine.. the change was inspired by the words of Jesus, "I am the Vine and you are the Branches". If you are already on Tangle, please let me know so that I can add you as my friend on Tangle. Sounds like a great idea... In this age of social networking Christians really needed this service to stay connected with other christians. If you have never heard of Godtube or Tangle please follow the link.

WOW Another Idea

I lack motivation, its as simple as that. Sometimes, I admit I am lazy but no one at my work place or school would ever label me that way.. this only means one thing and that is that I do the things which I have to do and nothing other than that. If I can get away without doing something, I just decide not to do it.. Hope I have company out there. But, the bad news is that there are some things which we can get away without doing just for the time being, later the consequences hit us hard. For instance, prayer... what happens if we don't pray for one day. Honestly, nothing much happens.. everything will be normal. But after ten days without spiritual food and prayer you start to feel the effects. This is the case with prayer, there are many other things that affect us if we ignore them for long. If I have to name them I would be here all night long. So that's the problem... How can we do those little things daily.

There is only one way to make us do those little things, and that one way is by holding us accountable. I came up with a wonderful little idea ( at least in my opinion.. :)..)that is still in its experimental stages as I like to say.. to make myself accountable. Every night, I try to sit down and plan for the next day and then I record myself talking into the lens of my cell phone about the day (this part is hilarious the next morning) and all that I am going to do (Or plan to do for the next day). I save the clip, then watch it some time in the morning... Not only do I remember what I planned to do to the very detail, it also makes my conscience trouble me all day until I finish all the tasks. I know maybe this will also become a routine over time and maybe I will start cheating myself. Well, then I will come up with another brilliant idea.... LOL. That's what brains are for. Gotta go.
